The Praça do Imperio is one of Lisbon's must-see listed sites. While retaining a classical structure, the project revitalizes the central part of the square. It makes the garden a place of relaxation adapted to contemporary use, while retaining a classic structure. Trees of the original species (1940) have been replanted. They add shade and break the gusts of wind from the Tagus. The fountain has been made more accessible. Chairs, similar to those in the Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris, invite visitors to sit down and admire the Hieronymites Monastery or the Monument des Explorateurs. The plants in the botanical garden have been chosen to recall those represented in the monastery's stones, typical of the Manueline style.
